I had the pleasure of photographing Japanese painter and performance artist Yurie Ido's most recent 3-part collaborative piece, The Last Beauty, which opened this weekend at Brotfabrik Bühne in Berlin's Prenzlauerberg. “It would be nice if the most beautiful moments in my life occurred at the same moment of my death,” says Ido. She explores these feelings in three visual experiences: a dance piece with contemporary dancer Verena Steffen; a solo video performance piece by Yurie; and an experimental stage performance with actor collaborators der Jim, Sascha Gennrich, Mew Suzuki Son, Saonja Heyer. "When we are born, we are old enough to die." Here, Ido attempts to present death between reality and fiction.
Above is my time-lapse of Yurie's second piece, "Dead II." For more information on Idoism, please visit www.yurieido.com.
